Get to Know Us!
Experience Life is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation providing supports for people with disabilities across Melbourne. We work directly with the individuals and their families to assist people with disabilities to achieve their goals. We empower our clients by ensuring they are supported and are directly involved in making decisions that impact their lives. We work to create personal plans focused specifically on them and their needs.
Developing resilience and positive outcomes for people based on their interests and strengths is really important to us, we like to work collaboratively with families, friends, advocates, and other support providers. The fundamental belief that all people with disabilities have the right to actively and meaningfully participate as members of mainstream society helps guide our approach and services.
Experience Life recognises that there is no 'one right way' to support individuals to live their lives, therefore we are dedicated to supporting participants in the way that best suits them.
Rights and Responsibilities
We believe people with disabilities have rights and responsibilities in our community. Experience Life supports and upholds all human rights. For more information about human rights, visit the links below.
We believe people with disabilities have the right to participate in and be included in their families, their communities and mainstream society. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, LGBTQI Community and other diverse cultural groups will be supported to strengthen their connection to their culture and community.
Participation, Inclusion and Identity
Meet the Team
Hi All, I have been with this organisation for 13 years, working as a disability support worker through to management. I began my working life some 40 years ago as a nurse and have 30 years of lived experience with the disability sector whilst raising my daughter with SMA. My focus on working in the disability sector began 13 years ago when the question of “how can I make this better for my daughter's future?” was foremost in my mind. After experiencing both sides of the fence, I know I have the insight, knowledge and passion to support and acknowledge our clients as the individual people of the community that they are.
People & Culture Manager
My name is Chelsea, and I’m the People & Culture Manager at Experience Life. I have many years of experience working in the disability sector and consider myself very fortunate to work for such an amazing organisation where staff and clients are encouraged to be themselves, be unique and to experience life. We value the support teams that we build in collaboration with each client, and I love building wonderful working relationships with all our staff. Having a positive team environment throughout our organisation is what helps us thrive! Outside of work, I am a mum of three, I live with MS, and I am obsessed with building miniature houses and doing cross stitch (when my cats aren’t helping)!
Client Services Manager
I have over 15 years experience working in the Health and Social Care industry, covering areas such as young children, adolescents, young families, aged care and disability. Being able to work with clients in a person centered, collaborative way to create the best outcome for both their current needs and future goals is where my passion lies.
Outside of work I am a mum of two young children who keep me very busy, we enjoy doing anything that involves being outdoors.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding our services and our wonderful team.
